The 2008 version of the local tour permit application is available when you click here on the BSA website .
This version of the familiar form offers some new features and some new requirements.
First, the features. You can now fill out the form on your PC (using Acrobat Reader) and save your data. That means you no longer have to start with a blank form for each trip; common data like your troop number and chartered organization will be there the next time you open the form.
Another nice feature is that there’s a single grid for entering all the relevant leader certifications (Youth Protection Training, Safe Swim Defense, etc.) Also, information that appears in multiple spots on the form is usually replicated automatically.
Now for the new requirements. Effective January 1, 2009, each trip must include at least one adult who has completed Youth Protection Training with the past two years and at least one adult who has completed the training module “Planning and Preparing for Hazardous Weather” at the BSA’s Online Learning Center.
